A Domain Model for Testing

Together with an ISTQB task force, we designed a comprehensible UML domain model containing basic testing terms, based on the ISTQB Foundation Level Syllabus. The model visualises the main entities of testing and their relationships in the context of testing activities. By explaining them along the domain model, we demonstrate that  testing entities and their relationships are not vague anymore, but rather constitute a logical chain of work steps and related work products with a clear scope. This makes the test process easier to comprehend both for beginners and for advanced practicioners. The model also facilitates understanding the abstract notion of traceability.
